FAQ

Do your treatments hurt?

We do everything possible to ensure our patients are as comfortable as possible while we administer pain-relieving treatments. Southwest Ohio Pain Management uses a new advanced medical technique that enables even the most sensitive patients to get the help they need. We often hear from patients that the treatments are painless, but it depends on individual pain tolerance. The procedure has been described as simple pressure, or being snapped by a rubber band or a slight sting. Some say they feel no pain at all.

What types of medications do you use?

We are proud to say we can offer a choice to our patients depending on their individual health needs and insurance requirements. We use non-narcotic anti-inflammatory medicines, and in many cases, no steroids are used.

Will my insurance cover the treatment?

We accept many insurance plans, but please call for more information. Medicare is gladly accepted, and cash options are available.

How long does the procedure take?

15 to 20 minutes.

How should I get ready for the treatment?

Our procedure has been proven to be safe and easy. You may want to eat a light snack before the treatment. This can help reduce a drop in blood sugar, which some people may experience.

What can I expect after the procedure?

Everyone is different, but we recommend that you have someone drive you home. Take it easy for the day of the procedure. Our patients find it helpful to apply ice to the affected area. After the first day, you should be able to perform normal activities and return to work the next day unless otherwise instructed by the doctor.

Most patients report immediate pain relief due to the local anesthetic, lasting a few hours. Your pain may return and then continue to lessen over the next few days as the anti-inflammatory has time to work. You may also feel some discomfort at the treatment site, which subsides quickly.

How long does the pain relief last?

Your doctor can best answer this question. It will depend on the condition that’s being treated.
